With
the onset of shorter days and colder weather in the UK, November is when
Jump Racing (National Hunt)
takes over; the highlights of the racing calendar are the Totesport Scoop6
November Handicap from Doncaster (5th), the Paddy Power Gold Cup
from Cheltenham (12th), the Totesport Becher Chase from Aintree
(20th), and the Hennessy Cognac Gold Cup from Newbury (26th). Worldwide,
however, there are still big
prizes on the Flat such as the Melbourne Cup (1st) from
Flemington and the Japan Cup (27th) from Tokyo.
In the NFL, the Superbowl
XL contenders emerge, as do the likely 'Bowl' teams in NCAA
College Football. For Basketball and Ice Hockey fans, both the NBA and NHL
seasons will be in full swing.
In Tennis, the Tennis Masters Cup,
the showcase Masters Series event, takes
place in Shanghai, China from 13th to 20th, with the best 8 players in the men's game
fighting it out.
This year's World Golf Championships
(World Cup) come from the Algarve's Victoria Clube de Golf in Vilamoura,
Portugal from the 17th
to 20th.
Meanwhile, European Soccer's top teams
will be hoping to still be in contention as the UEFA Champions League
enters its crucial second phase in November
